Don't ask Dylan Ness to move any furniture for you this summer. The Gophers' junior to be wrestler from Bloomington is trying to let his ailing back recover from a stressful but successful sophomore season.
"This past season put things in perspective for me," said Ness. "I have always spent so much time worrying about my wrestling career that I got away from having fun doing other things.
As a sophomore, Ness claimed fourth place honors at 149 pounds to earn all American recognition at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. He achieved a 6 2 record in national competition losing 7 3 to Steve Santos of Columbia in the consolation round.
"It was good to be back and have some fun at the nationals," said Ness. "I wished I could have finished higher but lost several close matches and finished fourth."
Ness claims he learned valuable life lessons this year while dealing with his back struggles.

Ness was able to make a strong contribution to the Gophers' third place team finish in the NCAA tournament.
However, Ness rebounded from his injury and became a two time all American wrestler for the Gophers. As a red shirt freshman, Ness placed second in the NCAA championship tournament.

Dylan Ness has been a pin machine during most of his prep and college mat careers. His aggressive style earned him the Gophers' Most Exciting Wrestler award this past season.
Ness, former state wrestling champion at Kennedy, missed half of last season recovering from a back injury. But most of his pain came from having to sit idle for half a season while unable Nike Vapormax X to contribute to the Gopher program.
Back willing, Dylan Ness will likely add a few more college wrestling honors to his collegiate wrestling resume during his final two seasons with the Gophers.

Ness savored his second NCAA wrestling tourney experience more than ever because of what he endured leading up to his national qualifying efforts.
Jayson Ness has plenty of valuable advice to give to his younger brother. Jayson was a Gopher all American and national champion during his collegiate career. He was also a state champion at Kennedy.

There is a strong Ness family connection in the Gopher wrestling program. Dylan's older brother Jayson is an assistant coach for Minnesota.
and I used to wrestle in our basement all the time growing up," said Dylan. "He works out with me at Minnesota and has taught me a lot."
"I took some time off from wrestling while missing half the season with back problems. I was able to get back wrestling with physical therapy and rest. I'm trying to focus on coming back strong for next season and have talked with the coaches about a summer plan."
